I recently graduated from the University of Missouri with BAs in English and Sociology. I teach special education to the fourth, fifth and sixth graders at Herrera Elementary School in downtown Phoenix. I am also a 2011 Teach for America corps member.

North Carolina, like most states, suffers from incredible debt: $2.5 billion. And, unsurprisingly, it seems the state has decided to cut educational programs. This NPR piece focuses on the cuts to teacher professional development and the contradictory promises made by state legislators. How are you seeing cuts to education affect your classroom?

My stint in Teach for America has provided a seemingly unlimited number of awesome and creative student project videos. This one hits close to home for me. Thank you, webbed toes. What’s your favorite student project remix?

It’s been a long time since my last Tumbl. But I’ve been learning to become a teacher with the Teach for America * Phoenix Corps. So, I thought this was most appropriate. I can only hope to inspire my kids to this level of cuteness one day. What’s your most adorable classroom moment?

Kidz Koal Korner?  Then, I found this S.F. Bay Guardian article and remembered just how cool The Yes Men are. Don’t forget to follow Coal Cares.
